　　该剧基于作家Arturo Pérez-Reverte的畅销书《La Reina Del Sur》进而改编的。
　　《南方女王》讲述关于女主Teresa Mendoza （Alice Braga饰）的故事，当他的毒贩男盆友在墨西哥意外被谋杀后，女主被迫逃到美国寻求庇护，她与过去的小伙伴一起共同反击杀害他男友并追杀她的贩毒集团头目，然而在这过程中，慢慢的她学会了贩毒行当的“知识”和“谋略”，并渐渐的成为贩毒集团新的老大。
